New Impact Fellow: Zhongying Wang

We are thrilled to introduce our newest MCSC Impact Fellow, Zhongying Wang!

Zhongying earned his PhD in Geography with a focus on Artificial Intelligence from the University of Colorado Boulder.

His research sits at the intersection of geography, AI, environmental science, and public health. His work has contributed to public health research through projects such as infectious disease forecasting for the CDC during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as high-resolution air pollution mapping for environmental exposure studies.

At MCSC, Zhongying will be working with Professor Sherrie Wang to develop methods that use hyperspectral remote sensing and other geospatial data to map soil organic carbon across the United States and globally as part of an MCSC seed award. As an MCSC Impact Fellow in the agriculture impact area, he will also collaborate with MCSC member companies and the broader MIT community to identify challenges and develop practical solutions for decarbonizing the agriculture sector.

Zhongying is excited to apply his expertise in GeoAI to soil and agricultural research, expand his knowledge of soil science, and collaborate with other Impact Fellows across disciplines.
