AI Playbook Aims to Reduce Concrete’s Carbon Emissions

There are numerous low-carbon concrete solutions available, but building designers are hesitant to use unproven technologies and are unaware which are available in particular regions. The Climate Pledge and The MIT Concrete and Sustainability Hub (CSHub) are working to address these gaps through a joint action project that will develop a playbook that uses AI to make designers aware of the lower-carbon concrete solutions most suited for their needs and are on the market or will be available soon. This project was catalyzed by an MCSC 2024 seed award, which laid the foundation for this playbook and connected MCSC member companies like Amazon and Prologis, who are participating in the initiative, with the CSHub researchers.
