New Impact Fellow- Zhongying Wang

July 22, 2026

We are thrilled to introduce our newest MCSC Impact Fellow, Zhongying Wang!

Zhongying earned his PhD in Geography with a focus on Artificial Intelligence from the University of Colorado Boulder.

His research sits at the intersection of geography and AI, with a focus on GeoAI methods for environmental and public health applications. His work has contributed to public health research through projects such as infectious disease forecasting for the CDC during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as studying the relationship between air pollution, patient locations, and lung disease using pollution mapping.

At MCSC, Zhongying will be working with Sherrie Wang on soil mapping by integrating AMS, satellite, and hyperspectral imagery to quantify soil carbon and soil organic carbon.

He is excited to apply his expertise in AI and geospatial analysis to this new area of research while expanding his knowledge in soil science. Zhongying is also looking forward to collaborating with the other Impact Fellows, exploring how their different research areas intersect, and grow by learning from them.
