The goals of the MCSC are to:

  • accelerate the innovation lifecycle by ensuring that technologies are invented, prototyped, and implemented at a pace relevant to meeting urgent climate goals;
  • coalesce insights on sustainability opportunities across, through, and between sectors;
  • provide rapid links between academic innovations and practical commercial results;
  • develop impact pathways that detail how a variety of industries can successfully adapt to climate change;
  • achieve action-oriented sustainable practice that embeds social justice, economic equity, and environmental benefit;
  • provide opportunities to educate, train, and recruit the next generation of innovators in this space, through company-inspired student projects.

At MIT, we believe that breakthroughs in climate change mitigation and adaptation will come through the coalescing of disparate disciplines, the merging of innovation and practical implementation, and multidimensional collaborations.
